Diesel Aerator

A diesel aerator is a device for aerating or distilling a diesel fuel. It has been used for a number of applications, including decontaminating diesel fuel contaminated with gasoline. Other uses include accelerating the growth of fish and increasing dissolved oxygen levels.

Diesel fuel can be aerated and/or distilled to separate the high gravity hydrocarbons from the lighter hydrocarbons. The vapors are then condensed and used in various systems. For example, the vapors may be scrubbed, burned off, or reprocessed into other products.

The aerator is driven by a small diesel engine. This engine is ideally driven by a clutch system. It can also be powered by an aeration pump.

Typically, the aerator tank has an outlet tube, which is run down to the bottom of the tank. The air, gas, and hydrocarbon vapors are then removed from the outlet. In addition, a backflow check valve 142 may be installed on the external surface of the aerator.

In some instances, the aerator is operated using a single electric motor that is manufactured under an ISO system. It features a sturdy stainless steel frame and a low friction coefficient. These characteristics, along with a worm gear design, ensure a high performance.

An aeration tank for the present invention comprises a pressure gauge 120. There may also be an inlet and outlet for a solid fuel line 19, a vapor space/ullage 109, and a fuel level 108. Fuel flows into the aerator tank from the fuel line, and flows out of the tank through the outlet tube.

The aerator preferably supplies air to the aerator at a velocity similar to the flow of the fuel. However, it is possible to provide higher velocity aeration at a ratio of about two to one.

The fuel is pumped from the underground storage tank. If the fuel is a mixture of diesel and gasoline, it will be tested to determine whether it has sufficient cetane. When it does, it can be tempered with a cetane boost to further improve its performance. Alternatively, it can be run through a diluted state to determine its compatibility with a standard diesel combustion engine.

The present invention is ideally used for improving the quality of diesel fuel containing a combination of gasoline and high gravity hydrocarbons. This can be done by exposing the contaminated fuel to air to cause the molecules to break apart. This can be achieved by putting the contaminated fuel into a aerator, pumping air into the aerator, and allowing the air to interact with the aerated diesel.

The aerator can also be operated by a water vehicle impeller. Typically, the impeller is made up of at least ten to sixteen sets of water vehicle impellers. During operation, the aerator drives the impellers and a clutch system, which causes the impellers to spin.

The aerator can be a surface aerator or a pond aerator. One of the advantages of a pond aerator is that it provides a larger intake valve and a substantial water current. Therefore, it is suitable for use in areas where there is no electricity, or where the aeration process is a more important consideration than other factors.
